BRANDOLAND: Talking to God...For You!

Random Stuff

Blogging Larry King-style today,

1. "Our Kid" mentioned "September 11th" seven times during yesterday's speech.

Three times in this particular stretch:
We saw the future the terrorists intend for our nation on that fateful morning of September the 11th, 2001.

That day we learned that vast oceans and friendly neighbors are no longer enough to protect us.

September the 11th changed our country; it changed the policy of our government. We adopted a new strategy to protect the American people: We would hunt down the terrorists wherever they hide; we would make no distinction between the terrorists and those who harbor them; and we would advance our security at home by advancing freedom in the Middle East.

September the 11th also changed the way I viewed threats like Saddam Hussein. We saw the destruction terrorists could cause with airplanes loaded with jet fuel -- and we imagined the destruction they could cause with even more powerful weapons.
I saw "Star Trek III" and know what Ricardo Montalban can do with a really good cloaking device.

2. Also, dude continued to talk about the insurgency - I mean - the rejectionists, Saddamists, and terrorists.
The enemy of freedom in Iraq is a combination of rejectionists and Saddamists and terrorists.

The rejectionists are ordinary Iraqis, mostly Sunni Arabs, who miss the privileged status they had under the regime of Saddam Hussein.

The Saddamists are former regime loyalists who harbor dreams of returning to power, and they're trying to foment anti-democratic sentiment amongst the larger Sunni community.

The terrorists affiliated with or inspired by al Qaeda are the smallest, but most lethal group.
Got that?

There will be a quiz.
They are led by a brutal terrorist named Zarqawi.
Your semi-new boogey-man.
He's al Qaeda's chief operations officer in Iraq. He has stated his allegiance to Osama bin Laden.

The terrorists have ambitions; they have goals.
Um, they usually do, sir.
They want to stop the advance of freedom in Iraq.

They want to stop the "advance" of US "interests" in Iraq. Meaning...US forces (American companies, the military, mercenaries, etc.) that might control their country.

Hey: I'm not saying the INSURGENTS are "right."

I'm just saying...that's why they're blowing up Humvees.

3. Walked Hollywood Blvd yesterday...looking for evildoers. (Please read the previous post.)

The DOD database obtained by NBC News includes nearly four dozen anti-war meetings or protests, including some that have taken place far from any military installation, post or recruitment center.

One “incident” included in the database is a large anti-war protest at HOLLYWOOD AND VINE in Los Angeles last March that included effigies of President Bush and anti-war protest banners.

A (DoD) spokesman said that all domestic intelligence information is “properly collected” and involves “protection of Defense Department installations, interests and personnel.”
On that note, I have the new list of Hollywood/DoD installations:

Skooby's Hot Dogs
L. Ron's Winter Woderland (next to the Musician's Institute)
The Erotic Museum
Hurricane (hip-hop clothing)
Build-A-Bear Workshop
"Hollywood Quik Chek"
That one Youth Hostel (next to "Jimmy Kimmel Live")
Kung Pao Kitty

Big thanks to the Pentagon for keeping these installations safe (and secret!) during the last protest march.

4. Speaking of Hollywood...

There's too damn many of 'em!

Back in the day, we just had to avoid - I mean - "deal with" Superman, Batman, Marilyn and Elvis. Today? Spongebob, Darth Vader, 10 Spidermen, Legolas, (a terrible) Catwoman, and Homer Simpson...

To name but a few! (Saturday afternoons are the worst, BTW.)

5. Never said this, but I LOVE IT when White House spokesdude Scott McClellan throws to Les Kinsolving, the nation's #1 right-wing nutjob reporter:
LES: Scott, a two-part question.

WorldNet Daily's Jerusalem Bureau Chief Aaron Klein is an American citizen who was denied entrance into Syria because he's Jewish. But I understand our State Department has had nothing to say about this outrage.

And my question -- surely the President, as worshiper of a Jew named Jesus, has something to say about this Jew-bating, doesn't he, which I recall was also done to Wolf Blitzer when he was a White House correspondent?

MR. McCLELLAN: We haven't had a discussion about it, Les. What's your next question?

LES: Surely the President is concerned about this, isn't he?

MR. McCLELLAN: Les, if there's more to get to you, I will.
Needless to stay, Scott didn't "get to him."

6. THIS is a phenomenal article re: Jack Abramoff.

Apparently, "Capital Athletic Foundation, a charity run by disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff now at the center of an influence-peddling investigation on Capitol Hill, told the IRS it gave away more than $330,000 in grants in 2002 to four other charities that say they never received the money."

Check it out.

More later...
