Peak Efficiency

Today's post is very simple.

Three (3) different headlines - same old story.

One --

House GOP Derails Democratic Inquiries

Into Plame and Iraq:
WASHINGTON -- House Republicans derailed Democratic attempts on Wednesday to force the Bush administration to surrender documents on prewar intelligence and the disclosure of the identity of a CIA operative.
Two --

Senate Kills Bid for Katrina Commission

To find out "what went wrong":
WASHINGTON - Senate Republicans on Wednesday scuttled an attempt by Sen. Hillary Clinton to establish an independent, bipartisan panel patterned after the 9/11 Commission to investigate what went wrong with federal, state and local governments' response to Hurricane Katrina.
And three --

DeLay declares 'victory' in war on budget fat

Hot tub Tom:
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said yesterday that Republicans have done so well in cutting spending that he declared an "ongoing victory," and said there is simply no fat left to cut in the federal budget.

*

Asked if that meant the GOVERNMENT was RUNNING at PEAK EFFICIENCY, Mr. DeLay said, "Yes, after 11 years of Republican majority we've pared it down pretty good."
Life under the GOP.

What else can I say?

You want the truth --

"YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"

I have a headache.

*

Harry Reid...working for you:
We will rebuild the Gulf Coast - and billions of dollars – billions of taxpayer dollars – will be spent in the process.

We Democrats want to be certain that money goes to help the victims, not to enrich the contractors.

And we want to make sure that the well-connected get treated no better than the carpenters, plumbers and electricians who do the work.

The President has stripped away protections for these workers, but we know America can do better.

Democrats want an independent ethics watchdog – someone with integrity and investigative power to police this spending and make sure everyone plays by the rules.
At least he's drawing attention to the dash for cash.

Everyone knows it's happening.

More later...

So Mr. Speaker this means the budget is balanced, right?

That's what I thought. Let us borrow your dictionary, it apparently has different definitions than us regular folks have.
